  7. Smart Home, Smart Locksmithing

Technology is moving fast. We’re all aware of this. Just think about how much time we spend on our phones or tablets. How much do we log on to different social media sites to “check things” or to find out information?

There is new technology being developed and launched every second of every day. It now affects how we live our lives. How we operate and when we look to buy something new, this something new has technology embedded into it.

Think about things like wireless headphones to how we stream music, how we can check in online at home before boarding a flight, or how we can even purchase vacuum cleaners which do it themselves.

When it comes to the world of locksmiths, technology has not missed our sector either! We now see key fobs instead of car keys or key passes used in commercial properties to access areas and open doors.

This new technology is excellent. Used and installed correctly, it not only makes us feel safer in our own homes, as well as leaving our homes unattended, but it also makes our homes much more secure.

 For example, smart locks.

Smart locks are a great new addition to homes. Not only do they let you come and go as you please, by simply using your phone or even voice recognition, but you can also monitor who is coming and going from your home when you’re not there!

A smart lock allows anyone with access to your Wi-Fi connection to open the door without needing a physical key. This will enable you to manage who has access to your home when you’re away and keep track of who comes in and out of the house.

Smart locks are also incredibly convenient for people with busy schedules who need to be able to come and go at any time of day or night. With just a few taps on your smartphone, the door will unlock for you, letting you get inside safely.

Of course, this all depends on the smart lock you choose. Some allow doors to open and close using your phone, but others can even let you assign special privileges to your selected people, such as family and friends.

Then there’s CCTV.

This is a route many people are going down at the moment. Having CCTV wired to your front and back doors and even garage doors and having these images available on your phone and tablet is proving very popular.

Taking this one step further, you can invest in CCTV peephole door cameras. Allowing you to check who is at your door from your phone or tablet without having to leave your seat.

Finally, should we invest in smart security systems rather than regular burglar alarms? As a quick response, no. We’d recommend having some alarms, no matter what. But we want to highlight the new technology if you want something different.

A smart security system allows you to have the ability to monitor, control and interact with your home from an app, which can be downloaded to your smartphone or tablet. You get to see what’s happening and can remotely turn appliances, such as lights, on and off.

Plus, with motion sensors, sirens and sensors, a smart home security system can offer great peace of mind.

Locksmiths, of course, have not been bypassed by technology. On the contrary! We do our best by helping to support it, manage it, and ensure that it is installed correctly and that it works and is suitable for each customer’s needs.
